What Is Stress? |

|
The interpretation of what is stressful and the reaction to a source of stress will be different for each of us. The way we react will depend upon our vulnerability: the result of our genetic make-up, childhood experiences and environment.
The majority of people possess an
inclination in the direction of utilizing one structure of actual
physical response as an alternative to others, for instance, a few have
abdominal problems, others mild to severe headaches, respiratory
sickness or hypertension. . Several members of any one
family often show a similar pattern.
Stress ResponseSome people thrive on stress; they are the ones who get a thrill out of climbing mountains, sailing in rough . conditions, or politics. To them it is the spice of life and many of us enjoy the heady excitement of being a little nervous. Others are more sensitive and crumple at mild criticism; some simply don't notice it.
Too little stimulation brings flatness
and depression; too much can lead to anxiety, panic and illness. But
throughout life, stress is unavoidable and a certain level of arousal
is necessary for effective performance at work.
