Muscle Tension

If muscles are held tight and tense in static contraction for long periods, however, the circulation is impeded and there will be a build up of fatigue products.  This can causes the muscle to go into cramp like spasm, causing the aches and pains so familiar to many tense, over alert people.  This especially applies to the muscles of the neck and shoulders.  Sustained muscle tension can have other harmful effects.  even holding a fist clenched for a while can significantly raise blood pressure.
