How To Alleviate Symptoms Of Menopause

The most common menopause symptom is hot flushes. These can be slight and transient, a glow of warmth spreading over the upper part of the chest and face or they can be so severe that the woman is drenched in sweat each time and sleep is disturbed. These are caused by the erratic functioning of the mechanisms which keep the caliber of the blood vessels in close check. These can be quite unpredictable or may be sparked off by slight stress or embarrassment.

The woman often feels acutely embarrassed but those around rarely notice unless she draws their attention
to it. Before the flush begins there may be feelings of doom and tension, then when it is over there is a general relaxation.

This is a tiresome experience but if she will just accept it (unless the flushes are very severe when she should seek medical help) and wait calmly for the flush to disappear she will find that the reaction is less severe, manageable and not upsetting.

When you realize that the adrenal glands are sending out extra adrenalin to compensate for the lack of hormones produced by the ovaries, it is easier to understand some of the feelings and to understand why relaxation will help.
