How To Stop Headaches?

It is important to see a physician for a diagnosis if you have headache because there are many causes. The commonest form is muscle-contraction headache, called tension headache.  It is associated with tension in the muscles of the scalp, forehead and the back of the neck.  The headache may last for days or weeks and the sufferer often looks harassed and anxious.  One of the causes of tension is clenching the teeth.  You can feel the result of this you do this:

  • Put your fingers at each side of your head on the temples.

  • Grit your teeth several times and feel the hard ridge of muscle this forms under your fingers.

This and tension of the forehead and neck muscles can lead to headache. So muscle relaxation of the forehead and neck will help to prevent this, but general relaxation is even more important. Massage of the forehead and neck is also a help. Remember that many pain-relieving pills have a headache rebound effect if they are taken over a long period.
