How To Release Tension In The Chest?

Lie flat on your back and place the arms down. Following fifteen minutes of complete relaxation, breathe a little more deeply than usual and hold your breath for about five seconds.

  • Now breathe out. Note the tension in the chest while you inhale, and the relaxation as you exhale.

  • Let the chest go, just as you did with the arms and legs, permitting the breathing to take its natural course.

  • Relax for about five minutes.

  • Repeat the above process. Again observe tension during a deeper breath. Let the chest go and relax for the remainder of period.

Remember:

  1. While relaxing the chest, make sure not to perform any tensions in the arms and legs, which are to be completely relaxed during the entire practice session.

  2. Do not use "controlled breathing" as an aid in relaxation. Respiration should be free from voluntary influence.
