Lie flat on your back and place the arms
down. Following fifteen minutes of complete relaxation, breathe a
little more deeply than usual and hold your breath for about five
seconds.
-
Now breathe out. Note the tension in the
chest while you inhale, and the relaxation as you exhale.
-
Let the chest go, just as you did with
the arms and legs, permitting the breathing to take its natural course.
-
Relax for about five minutes.
-
Repeat the above process. Again observe
tension during a deeper breath. Let the chest go and relax for the
remainder of period.
Remember:
-
While relaxing the chest, make sure not
to perform any tensions in the arms and legs, which are to be
completely relaxed during the entire practice session.
-
Do not use "controlled breathing" as an
aid in relaxation. Respiration should be free from voluntary influence.
